About the Author
Tessa Paul is the author of a number of non-fiction titles, including a biography on Louis Comfort Tiffany, the American craftsman, and two titles on stained glass and decorative tiles. Working as an editor on a series of 32 books on mainly religious festivals around the world, she also authored some of the titles. Her fiction for children has been published by Scholastic, and non-fiction titles about animal life were published by Crabtree. Her poems have appeared in an anthology and in poetry magazines and, recently, she completed a commission as the writer on a project about the life of the popular author, Catherine Cookson, including articles on the historical background to her novels.
Reverend Ronald Creighton-Jobe, the consultant, is an Oratorian Father at the London Oratory Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Impressive book: good introduction to various topics, great images

This book has great summaries on various Saint related topics. It begins with detailed description on what is a Saint, canonization process, holy relics; important feast days, etc. Throughout the book there are occasional pages dedicated to other topics: The stigmata, Apostles, child saints, religious orders, incorruptibles, etc. Great facts associated to each individual Saint listed in the Directory. It is not a comprehensive list of Saints, but the presentation is impressive. My 14 year old daughter could not put it down for two weeks.

Good Reference Bood For Catholic Art Lovers

This is a beautifully illustrated reference book. It was exactly what I was expecting by seeing it on Amazon. Anyone, like me, who loves Renaissance art, will enjoy reading up on the Catholic Saints. However, this being a recently written reference book, there are also modern saints covered, such as Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Those who are searching for a reference book covering a larger number of saints, I would recommend "Our Sunday Visitor's Encyclopedia of Saints" Our Sunday Visitor's Encyclopedia of Saints This product briefly covers about 10,000 saints.

A terrific First Communion Gift!

First communion gifts tend to be rosaries, crosses, etc., but this is a great alternative. The pictures are exquisite and the reading level is just right for a rising third grader - a little challenging, but not so hard that they would have a problem with it. He loved it!
